Historical evolution
The period of Japanese occupation in Taiwan was founded in 1896 (Meiji 29). In 1906 (the 39th year of Meiji, Japan), the original tower was moved to the present site 30 meters away due to cracks in the rock plate of the tower foundation. During World War II, it was bombed and destroyed by Allied planes. It was rebuilt in 1971.
