Wulai is a mountainous area, located in the southern end of the new North, and its residents are mainly Taya. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery, it is famous for hot springs, waterfalls and mountain people, and has developed into a famous sightseeing and recreation area.

According to legend, three hundred years ago, Wulai was the hunting ground of Yuya people. When they came to the Wulai River, they saw smoke rising from the river. When they went to visit, they found smoking hot water. They called it "Wulai". Wulai means "smoking hot water", which is what we call hot spring. The word "Wulai" has been used in Wulai district since then.

Wulai hot spring

Wulai hot spring area is located in front of the recreation area. After getting off at Xindian passenger terminal and passing the first bridge, you can see many hot spring hotels on the roadside. The source of Wulai hot spring has become a tourist treasure. From the entrance of Wulai tourist area to Wulai waterfall, a section of platform lane is reserved for tourists.

Wu-Lai Waterfall

Wulai waterfall has the old name of "Taki from the clouds", which is named after the waterfall falling from the clouds. Its valley often have visitors barbecue, water. Wulai mountain cultural relics museum is located on the mountain road opposite to the waterfall. Wulai mountain folk cultural relics museum displays various primitive living utensils of the mountain people. The aerial cable car is a major feature of Wulai recreation area. Looking at the whole Wulai district from the cable car, it is very magnificent and full of mountain customs.

The tourism season of Xinbei is spring and autumn, especially from October to November. At this time, the temperature is about 22.2 ℃ - 24.2 ℃, and the rainy weather is less, which is comfortable and pleasant. Xinbei has a subtropical monsoon climate. It is hot and humid from the end of May to September every year. The precipitation from July to September accounts for 40% of the whole year. December to February is winter. Although the temperature is not too low, it is humid and rainy, which makes people feel very cold.
