Tongcheng ancient city district is the seat of Tongcheng City (county), which has a history of more than 1200 years.

The ancient city faces south, with Yuping, Touzi and longmian mountains on its back and Shihe River and longmian River on its side. The ancient city was named mountain city at the beginning. It was changed into Mengxia town in the Republic of China and named Chengguan town after the founding of the people's Republic of China. History and current situation of Tongcheng ancient city

Tongcheng has a long history and a prosperous literary style. It is the birthplace and concentration of Jianghuai cultural circle. As early as the spring and Autumn period, it was called the state of Tong. In 757 ad, the county was officially established, and in 1996, the county was withdrawn to establish a city, which lasted more than 1200 years. During this period, the humanities flourished, and the generation had talents. In Tang and Song Dynasties, Cao song was famous for his poems and his paintings. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were more than 240 Jinshi. Among them, Tongcheng middle school, founded by Mr. Wu Rulun, the first general teacher of Beijing University, has been a famous school for 100 years.
