Wenbi tower is located in Dongshan Park of dongwenshan in the east of Wenshan City, Yunnan Province. <p>Construction background</p><p>Some people say that the original intention of building the pagoda is to suppress demons and quell floods, because according to historical records, Wenshan has suffered frequent floods since the Qing Dynasty, and the purpose of building the pagoda is to prevent floods and ensure safety.</p><p>Wenbi pagoda was first built in Kangxi period, called Gongyi Academy. The ninth group army of the Kuomintang built fortifications in Dongshan, and all the remnant towers were demolished.</p><p>After the establishment of Wenshan Prefecture, the successive party and government leaders in the prefecture and county had the intention of restoring the pagoda.</p><p>In 1983, the overall urban construction plan of Wenshan County was expanded to "Dongshan Park".</p><p>In 1997, the project of rebuilding the new tower started in full swing. It took one year and was completed at the end of March 1998.</p><p>New tower</p><p>The most distinctive feature of the new tower is that 999 steps have been built from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain. It is octagonal with seven stories and eight warps. It is simple and elegant. The whole body of the tower is red. It is magnificent, solemn, straight and resplendent.</p><p>Inside and outside the tower, there are poems and paintings, carved beams and painted buildings, flowing gold and colorful, full of wit.</p><p>At the corner of the tower, there are strings of bells. Whenever the wind blows, it will make a clear and pleasant sound.</p><p>Looking around the tower, in the south, there is Jin cikun's "Wenshi, Zhuangshan, Heji, Yuantian, Cong and Mang, and the strokes of the ancient and modern masters, Fang Shihan and Qing Dynasties."</p><p>In the north, there is Yang Xingyue's "get two mountains Lingguang Tianzao writing brush Zhuoyu inkstone, get a river Ziqi set up Xihua xicuiwei."</p><p>In the southwest, there is Dai Guanglu's "writing style is good, ancient and modern history is brilliant, people are outstanding, mountains and rivers reflect the sun and the moon, things are beautiful and the earth is beautiful".</p><p>Several couplets show the essence, spirit and spirit of Wenshan and the momentum of Wenbi tower.</p><p>The origin of the name</p><p>The origin of the name "Wenbi tower": it is said that the intersection of the main peak of Dongshan mountain and the two sides of Lianshan mountain forms the word "Wen".
