Hezhuang

The village where the Oriental longevity garden is located is called Hezhuang.

Hezhuang is named after the local heziwan.

This heziwan was originally a north-south waterway, which was more and more curved and slender as the neck of a crane. The three small rivers on the right side of the waterway were equally wedged in, overlooking the hot crane wings from high altitude. The pond connected to the north end of the waterway was like the tail of a crane.

Liao yiben, a 91 year old man in the village, recalled that when he was a child, he could hear the cry of cranes every morning when he got up. But follow the sound to find, but can't see the crane figure.

He was bewildered.

The old people told him that the crane was not in the sky, not in the water, not in the reed marshes, but on the ground. The crane was the crane Bay given by God, which brought countless good days to people.

In 208 BC, the first emperor of Qin called his servant Xu Fu (now from Lianyungang) to look for the secret of longevity when he heard that there was heziwan in Donggao. Xu Fu said that the elixir of immortality was in the fairy mountain on the sea. The first emperor ordered him to take 500 children from heziwan via Rugao port to search for the three Penglai islands.

More than a month after going to sea, Xu Fu got it. Unexpectedly, the treasure ship capsized Rugao port in a storm on the way home. Since then, the common people have lived a happy and nourishing life, lasting for thousands of years.

According to the legend of the people of Hezhuang, a long time ago, on the night before a rainstorm, a meteorite fell from the sky and slammed down on Hezi Bay. Its sound was like thunder, stirring up a kilometer high spray.

The next day, there was a strong wind, lightning and thunder. In the clouds, there was a white bearded fairy, holding a peach bonsai in his hand, flying down on a crane and landing in heziwan.

When the villagers saw this, they knelt down one after another.

Nowadays, there are more than 20 people over 80 years old and 8 people over 90 years old in the village. An old man named he dianxing is 100 years old. He is still not hunchback, dizzy, deaf, and has a good appetite for three meals. He drinks five cups of tea a day and tells jokes happily.

As a matter of fact, he dianxing is not the oldest person among the villagers. He lived longer than he did in the Tang Dynasty.

According to the records of Rugao county annals, yuezi Chang met Han Zhong, an immortal, who taught him Ju Sheng Ling to fly away. He had no family clothes and was immortal. He died at the age of 180. The emperor of Tang Dynasty was very surprised.

The secret of long life is not only working every day, but also diving in the Bay every day. Touching the meteorite falling from the sky at the bottom of the water can increase one year's life.

According to statistics, there are 1.45 million people in Rugao. According to the 2004 census, there are 209 elderly people over 100 years old, 2003 elderly people over 95 years old and 4002 elderly people over 90 years old. The proportion of people who live a long life is three times of the standard of longevity (0.75/10000 people) issued by the United Nations.

Why do these old people live long? Are they related to mysterious legends in history, geography and environment, or the accumulation of long-term health preserving experience?
