Magic Temple

Fabao temple is a national AAA tourist attraction.

Located in Baipu Town, Rugao City, Jiangsu Province, it was originally called Shengjiao temple. It was built in the fourth year of Taihe reign of Tang Dynasty (830 A.D.) and was unfortunately burned by fire. In the first year of the Song Dynasty (1054 AD), it was rebuilt in the original site, with a large scale, and was listed as one of the eight major leaf forests in Weiyang.

It is said that when the foundation was laid, a turtle was dug from the ground and presented to the imperial court. The emperor named it "Fabao Temple".

Brief introduction to the temple

Fabao temple, located in Baipu Town, Rugao City, was built in 830 A.D. in the fourth year of Taihe in Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in 1054 A.D. in the first year of Song Dynasty. It was listed as "one of the eight jungles of Weiyang". Zheng Banqiao, a calligrapher and painter in Qing Dynasty and one of the eight monsters of Yangzhou, inscribed a plaque on the Sutra collection building for the temple, which was full of incense.

It is said that Yuanren, a famous Japanese monk in the Tang Dynasty, Yue Fei, a hero fighting against Jin Dynasty in the Southern Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang, Prime Minister of the Southern Song Dynasty, Shen Qi, censor of zuodou in the Chayuan of the Qing Dynasty, and Yuan Mei, a poet, all have records of browsing and singing about the Fabao temple. architectural style

Fabao temple has a special architectural style, which is rare in general temples. The architectural layout of the temple is like "elephant" shape, with elephant ears on both sides of elephant trunk Bay. In the spring of 2003, two large ponds were dug, covering an area of about 1200 square meters.

Shrimp, turtle, turtle and fish are raised in the pond, and hundreds of bright peony, peony, rose and other flowers are planted around the pond. In the center of the pool, there is a "Zhaoxin Pavilion", beside which the curved bridge connects the bank. It is a good place for tourists to enjoy the cool and cool in summer.

In the east of fangshengchi, there is a Zhaozhou style stone arch bridge, named Wan'an bridge. It is the epitome of ancient Wan'an bridge in Baipu town. Ten scenes of PUTANG and famous poems are engraved on the bridge. Two pairs of stone lions from the original Wan'an bridge are placed at both ends of the bridge. On the stone pillars are engraved with a famous Chinese philosophical saying - "may heaven always produce good people, and may people always do good deeds", which always teaches people, which is also valuable in today's era.

Status quo of temples

In the second half of 1949, the Rudong County People's Congress decided to set up a middle school in Baipu town in order to change the backward situation of secondary education in Baipu area, and named it "Baipu branch of Rudong middle school in Northern Jiangsu". The site is located at No. 56 River Road, Bai Po Town, which is the remnant magic temple and the former site of Town God's Temple before liberation.

The old houses in the old temple have one of the Da Xiong Ding hall and the Tibetan Buddhist sutra. There are three rooms in the Chai house, three in the Town God's Temple main hall and the Queen's house, covering an area of about 20 mu, and the houses are mostly destroyed. The school is the later Baipu senior high school in Jiangsu Province. Now it has become a four-star high school in Jiangsu Province and a national model high school.

cultural meaning

In August 1998, the ancient temple was moved from Puzhong to the east side of the highway in the Northwest Development Zone of the town. After years of arduous relocation, the main project of the temple has been fully completed. The stone archway, more than 10 meters high in front of the temple, stands at the top of the "elephant trunk bay". On both sides of the archway, there are eight powerful characters: "magic Temple" and "looking back is an" written on both sides. Under the sunlight, it is golden and eye-catching.
