Shimen ancient battlefield
Shimen ancient battlefield is located in Checheng Town, Taiwan, on the east side of Sizhong river. There are only hills and flowing water here, which is full of battlefield artistic conception. Shimen is composed of loumu mountain, 370 meters above sea level, and wuchongxi mountain, 450 meters above sea level, with steep cliffs. Because of the dangerous terrain, just like a door, the stone gate got its name.
The incident of Peony Society in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty happened here. During the Japanese occupation period, the Japanese set up a "monument of loyalty to the soul" on laomu mountain to commemorate the Japanese soldiers who died in the Mudan society incident. After the restoration of Taiwan, the government set up another stele on laomu mountain to honor the mountain people's indomitable spirit.
