Kuci is one of the ancient western regions, and its residents are good at music. The ancient city is located in Pilang village, about two kilometers west of Kuqa County. During the Han and Tang Dynasties, the central government took Qiuci as the political center and set up political institutions to manage the western regions.

History of kuci City

Kuizi was the capital of the western regions in ancient China. In the third year of emperor Yongyuan (AD 91), banchao moved to kuizi when he was the governor of the western regions. In the 22nd year of Tang Zhenguan (648 AD) and the 2nd year of Tang Xianqing (657 AD), Anxi Duhufu was set up twice in Qiuci, which governed 4 towns, 16 prefectures and 72 prefectures.

Geography of kuci City

The perimeter of the ancient city is nearly 8000 meters. The north wall is 2000 meters, the south wall is 1806 meters, the east wall is 1646 meters, and the west wall is about 2200 meters. Except for the East, South and North walls, the west wall has disappeared. The whole city is irregular square, the wall is about 2-7 meters high, made of rammed earth, and there is a battlement every 40 meters or so. In 1985, Mr. Huang Wenbi, a famous Chinese archaeologist, once carried out excavation work in this city. The unearthed cultural relics include stone tools, bone ware, colored pottery pieces, copper pieces, Han wuzhu coins, Qiuci coins, Kaiyuan Tongbao, etc.
