North Long Beach

Located 30 kilometers upstream of Shapotou, a national 5A tourist area, beichangtan is rated as one of the first batch of "national famous historical and cultural villages" in Ningxia due to its long history, traditional buildings with civil structure in the north, military defense and primitive and simple ecology. It is also one of the important nodes of riverside tourism belt in "one core, two belts" in Zhongwei tourism priority development strategy.

Take 201 provincial road to the west, pass Shapotou scenic spot, drive to the intersection of Mengjiawan expressway, take the lower provincial road to the south, enter along the North Bank of the Yellow River, and drive 29 km to reach beichangtan.

Historical evolution

Beichangtan is divided into four natural villages: huangshisheng, yushutai, xiatan village and shangtan village. 57 families in the village farm, raise sheep and cut firewood. Steamed bread like mountain buns on both sides of the Yellow River have blocked its communication with the outside world for a long time. Since the passage of the road, the young people in the village continue to go out, or work, or do business, or go to school. The rest are left behind elderly people over 60 years old, less than 30 families. Walking into North Long Beach, you will feel that time slows down in an instant, and the world suddenly becomes clean. Days are like the water of the Yellow River, flowing from day to night, from spring to summer to autumn and winter. Beilongtan people used to live in this mountain for generations. They can't bear the lonely donkey's long cry, and the lonely old ox turns around the millstone circle after circle. These old people are used to working at sunrise and rest at sunset, and they don't know the changes of the outside world. It was not until the end of 2006 that North Long Beach ended its history of lighting kerosene lamps. Although the road has been repaired, the electricity has been turned on, and every household has a TV set, the mobile signal still does not enter. Therefore, when the mobile phone arrives here, there is no signal at all. You can put aside the trouble that the mobile phone keeps ringing and play "disappear" for a while.

The North Bank of the Yellow River is about 40 Li Long and 30-40 m wide, which is the land that villagers rely on for generations. Although many people have moved away from this native land, they still come back to cultivate, irrigate and harvest every year during the farming season.

During the period of the Republic of China, Feng Jianzhong, the "Mountain King" in Xiangshan area of Zhongwei, led a group of people stationed in beichangtan. He used the natural danger of the Yellow River to rob the past commercial rafts and help the mountain people in Changtan. Later, he was surrounded and suppressed by the national army. On the eve of liberation, in order to strengthen the defense, Ma Hongkui's troops stationed in Ningxia once sent troops to defend in beichangtan. On the hill of yushutaizi, there is a semi-arc fort built with stones in the period of the Republic of China.

Beichangtan ancient village is located in Beishan Mountain. It is built close to the mountain. Due to different situations, the houses are scattered and full of three-dimensional feeling. The layout and structure of each courtyard still retain the local traditional architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties - "four beams and eight columns" civil structure building, and the courtyard wall is made of stone. The traditional residential buildings here are the most complete and concentrated houses with local characteristics in Ningxia. The once vigorous "great leap forward" and "Cultural Revolution" movements have left a deep impression on this peaceful small mountain village. Entering the village, you can still see many clear quotations and images of Chairman Mao on the walls, doors and windows, wooden cabinets, as well as various slogans during the cultural revolution.
