Xianyu ancient temple is located in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. It was built in the Tang Dynasty, more than 1400 years ago. According to historical records, Shen Zhenzhu, the wife of Li Yu, the grandson of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, left Guangping after an'an-shi rebellion, traveled to the south of the Yangtze River, lived in seclusion in Xianyu mountain, built temples and towers, rescued people from suffering, cured people, and was admired by later generations. People praise it as "fairy lady".

September 9 of the lunar calendar is Shen Zhenzhu's birthday. Every year, people hold several days of folk temple fairs at this time to commemorate the fairy maiden who is "kind to the common people and benefits the common people".

Xianyu ancient temple was originally built on the main peak. In 1883, in the winter of Daoguang Guisi, Qing Dynasty, the temple was rebuilt on the hillside, with "Wenchang Pavilion", "charity hall" and other buildings. In the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, an additional "Atrium" (stage) was built. On the day of its completion, the chief examiner of the Qing Dynasty came here to collect couplets. At that time, Liu Shunchang was 16 years old and wrote a couplet: "count the green peaks, and the results of the world will be revealed; a jade flute will blow the plum blossom on the mountain." Known as a good sentence, xuanming was accepted by Fujian Fu Tai. Since then, the temple and pagoda have been paid by the government and donated by the people. However, things have changed, especially natural lightning strikes, the Cultural Revolution broke the "four old", and many cultural relics have been damaged. In the 1990s, the municipal and district governments of Zhuzhou allocated funds for renovation, and Xianyu ancient temple reappeared its glory.

The plaque on the door of Xianyu ancient temple is engraved with the golden characters of "Xianyu ancient temple". On both sides of the plaque is a couplet of "spring in Yuling, praise of immortals". On the right side is the "Yuanchen hall", where 60 stars are worshipped. In front of the temple, there is a two-story antique stage of 500 square meters and a trapezoidal seat which can accommodate more than 2000 people. There are more than 100 years old camphor trees around, and each tree has been listed for protection. According to the inscription on the stone steps in front of the temple, Xianyu temple was built in the Tang Dynasty. It is said that Shen Zhenzhu, the wife of Li Yu, the grandson of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, practiced immortality here to avoid the "an Shi rebellion". For thousands of years, villagers from four townships and eight mountains have come here to ask for lots and medicines, so the fragrance is still in full bloom.
