Guanwu Mountain Forest Park

Guanwu mountain Geopark is located in the northwest of Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province, about 20 kilometers away from the urban area. It is mainly composed of Guanwu mountain and wujiahou mountain, covering an area of about 50 square kilometers.

There are many kinds of geological relics in the park, such as peak cluster, karst cave, karst pool, standard geological section of Longmen Mountain and paleontological fossil footprint, nappe structure relics of qianlongmen mountain. Guanwu mountain, doutuan mountain, wujiahoushan mountain, Gaitian mountain and so on rise and fall one after another. The relative height difference is about 300-400 meters, and the highest peak is Gaitian mountain at an altitude of 2175 meters. Among the many mountain scenery, doutuan mountain, which is famous for its precipitous and secluded scenery, has become a famous scenic spot on the Chengdu Jiuzhaigou tourism link. In the edge source area of the scenic spot, there are a large number of karst caves, among which Foye cave, Bailong palace, Baihe cave and Jinguang cave are well-known. In fact, there are many caves of great development value in the karst funnel group, such as Dashui cave, Heshang cave, Chuanyun cave, Lingquan cave, fengdongzi cave, etc. In these caves, stalagmites, stalagmites, pillars, curtains, and underground rivers are developed, which makes people feel an impulse to explore. Experts believe that the karst landscape resources in the park are concentrated, and there are many typical ones in common, so it is of great significance to protect and develop them. In the park, Fujiang River, Pingtong River and Panjiang River pass through, and the waterscape is magnificent. Erlang gorge on the east side of Guanwu is one of the famous "six Gorges of Fujiang River"; the Dengjia Tongkou section of Panjiang river has built the first drifting exploration section in the province. Guanwushan Geopark has the most geological characteristics and attracts tourists from all over the world, which is the karst funnel group which is densely developed in the area. There are more than 250 large and small karst funnels, which is one of the densest karst funnels in China. The karst funnel in Guanwu mountain is mainly of sharp bottom type, with the width of 100m ~ 500m in the upper part and 30m ~ 80m in the lower part. These funnels vary in shape, some are round, some are nearly rectangular, and the depth is generally 30-100 meters. Among them, the typical ones are liaojiaping karst funnel, yinshanbei karst funnel, Dawan karst depression, huangshuijing karst funnel, siwokeng and yangtianwo. The standard geological section and fossil remains of Longmen Mountain provide an ideal place for geological tourism and scientific investigation. The standard geological section of the park is located in the area from Ganxi to songhualing, which is the standard geological section of Devonian system. The Devonian strata in this section are well distributed and contain abundant paleontological fossils such as corals, brachiopods, shells and bivalves. In the Devonian strata at the cave of Houshan in Wujia, there are a lot of fossils. The complete variety of fossils provides excellent materials for scientific authors to study the geological environment of the earth 200 million years ago, and makes ordinary tourists feel the change of geological environment, the death of life and the power of orogeny.

Feilai Peak

In addition, the structural remains of the qianlongmenshan nappe also explain the origin of the giant "Feilai peak" of Guanwu mountain. Many geologists believe that the "feilaifeng" formed by the Longmenshan nappe structure experienced three stages from Indosinian to late Himalayan, namely, nappe, gravity slide and gravity collapse.

The huge fault blocks formed by long-term nappe and multi-stage structural superimposition have gradually formed various types of "klippes" after the later sliding and collapse. Feilai peak in Guanwu mountain is a member of Feilai peak group in Longmen Mountain.

Landscape is another highlight of the park. The Guanwushan Forest Park and wujiahoushan Forest Park under construction in Jiangyou City have begun to take shape. There are thousands of tall and straight catkin trees in the back mountain of Wujia. When spring comes, the trumpet shaped flowers, which are as big as tea cups, are blooming. They are colorful and have high ornamental value. Among the tall trees, the straight thick simple trees and the crooked Eucommia trees, with different shapes, form a unique mountain landscape.
