Since the end of 2006, the green space in Wuhan Institute of landscape science has been rebuilt into a popular science park in Wuhan, which was initially completed on April 28, 2007 and opened to the public free of charge.

The park covers an area of 177 mu, with three facing roads, Heping Avenue in the north, Garden Road in the West and Sangong road in the East. The park has a unique geographical location. Once a plant is extinct, it can not be regenerated. Therefore, these tree species have many advantages It has important scientific research value. Through the research and observation of its ecological characteristics and biological habits, it is of great practical significance to find out the causes of its endangerment and formulate protection plans and measures.

There is a 80 year old Chongyang tree in the park, which is the follow-up resource of ancient and famous trees in Wuhan. It is the highest tree in the existing Chongyang tree in Wuhan, with a height of 28 meters, a crown of 13.4 meters and a diameter at breast height of 72 cm. It has beautiful shape, luxuriant branches and leaves. The leaves are bright green in early spring and turn red in autumn. It is quite beautiful. As a court shade tree and street tree, it has good greening function and effect.

The above rare plant species are the living teaching materials to popularize the knowledge of landscape plants to the public and primary and secondary school students. 62 station boards and 254 boards were set up to indicate the species, Latin names, families, genera and main habits of plants. For the characteristic tree species in the garden, the adaptability, ornamental and planting application in Wuhan area were also introduced.
