It is one of the eight deserts in Inner Mongolia, which means red bull in Mongolian. It is distributed in Wuhai City, Alxa Left Banner, Dengkou County, Hangjinhou banner and some areas of Wuhou banner. It is one of the three major parks in Dengkou Geopark and an ideal place for leisure and vacation.

Ulanbuhe desert, with an area of 3333 square kilometers in Bayannaoer City, is distributed from northeast to southwest. It lies between the Yellow River, Langshan Mountain and Houtao plain. The vast sand sea is highly ornamental. Together with the surging Yellow River, the setting sun in the West and the cooking smoke in villages, it forms a three-dimensional scene of "straight desert smoke, long river falling yen". The eastern area of Ulanbuhe desert in Dengkou county is rich in groundwater, abundant in light and heat, flat terrain, and nearly one million mu of cultivated oasis, which is an ideal place for leisure and vacation.
