In winter, due to the great influence of the ocean cold current, the temperature is relatively lower. There are typhoons, 4-6 times a year, but few typhoons above 10.

According to the survey from 1998 to 2000, there are 266 species of wild animal resources in Datian Nature Reserve (36 species of mammals, 81 species of birds, 17 species of reptiles, 12 species of amphibians, 8 species of fish and 108 species of insects). Among them, there are 3 species of first-class protected animals, 20 species of second-class protected animals and 17 species of key protected animals in Hainan Province. There are more than 450 vascular plants.

The appearance of Hainan Po deer is similar to that of sika deer. The biggest difference is the horns on the head of male deer. The horn of Sika Deer bends backward, while the horn of Polu deer bends forward. It is a big and Curved Eyebrow fork, which is connected with the curved main branch at the back to form a unique large angle arc. Po Lu is good at running and jumping. When frightened, he jumps across a 5-meter-long gully. He likes to move on the edge of the hillside with thick shrubs and weeds. They have a keen sense of sight, hearing and smell. Male deer rely on their song to find their mate; female deer rely on their song to call their suckling deer. They can hear each other even though they are one kilometer apart. Mount the observation tower of the nature reserve and watch the deer play. Po deer like red best. Whenever the sun rises or the setting sun shines, they come out in groups. After 31 years of protection and development, the population number of Hainan Po deer has increased from 26 to nearly 2000, making Hainan Po deer one of the most effective species for wildlife protection in China. The establishment of Datian National Nature Reserve has achieved fruitful results. Many well-known scholars and experts at home and abroad, as well as colleges and universities, have come here to investigate, study and set up research sites, and tourists come in an endless stream. With the efforts of generations of Polu workers, he has published more than 100 papers and won more than 20 awards, including the national, provincial and municipal "advanced collective", the provincial forestry system "civilized unit", the first "China Wild Resources Protection Award", "see · TNC ecological Award" (2007) outstanding award, and the "advanced unit" of China's spiritual civilization construction.
