Guantian district is located in the central area of Tainan City, Taiwan Province, adjacent to Liujia District in the north, Shanhua District in the south, Dani District in the southeast, Matou district and Xiaying District in the West.

Historical evolution

Guantian district was formerly known as "Guandian". During the Hezhi period, this area belonged to "Wangtian", that is, government land. During the Ming and Zheng dynasties, Wang Tian was changed into "official land", and the land was handed over to the civil and military officials to recruit tenant farmers for reclamation. Among them, Chen Yonghua's family took over the most tenancy, gradually forming Han settlements, so it was called "official tenancy".

During the Qing Dynasty, this place belonged to "guandianzhuang", which was renamed as "guantianzhuang" in 1920. It was under the jurisdiction of Zengwen County in Tainan Prefecture. The farm was located in guantian (later guantian Village). After the war, it was changed to guantian township of Tainan County. In 1953, the township government was moved from guantian village to Longtian Village (formerly known as fanzitian). On December 25, 2010, it was renamed guantian district.

Compared with other administrative districts, guantian district is unique in that it has rich prehistoric culture. It was nearly 100 years ago that the territory of guantian district was established in the Japanese era. Although the district administration of guantian district is young, the history of people and land can be traced back to ancient times.

geographical environment

Guantian district is located in the north of the central part of Tainan City, east of Zengwen District, bounded by Zengwen River and connected to the central mountains in the East. The central mountains make it difficult for the leeward Jianan plain to be moistened by rain after winter. In order to avoid the difficulty of looking at the farmland, the guantian district and its adjacent administrative districts dug pools to store water, and became the most densely populated area of Tableland lakes and marshes. In addition to the large and small pools, the most famous ones are Wushantou reservoir, tonglingyu, fanzitianyu, etc.

The land area of this area is 7,79 hectares, accounting for 3.5% of the total area of the county, including 385.535 hectares of agricultural land and 1,38 hectares of hillside land. The main industry is agriculture. The agricultural products include rice, sugarcane, melons and fruits, vegetables, and the special products are water chestnut and mango. Animal husbandry includes dairy cattle, chickens and pigs.
