On the morning of July 29, 2011, Mianzhu municipal government and Sichuan Mianzhu Ruifeng Investment Co., Ltd. formally signed an investment contract for the "Chinese New Year picture ancient street" project with a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan. According to the introduction, the project mainly relies on the ancient houses and traditional Chinese New Year pictures in Mianzhu New Year picture village to build an ancient street of Chinese New Year pictures and build three historical museums, including "Chinese New Year picture Museum, An'an Museum of China's first filial son, and Mianzhu Jiannanchun palace Wine Museum".

Earthquake impact

In the "5.12" earthquake, Mianzhu New Year pictures, one of China's four major new year pictures, suffered a heavy blow. The famous New Year picture village was destroyed, and the New Year picture museum was damaged and closed. However, Mianzhu new year painters did not fall down. They used their brushes to record history and then faced the challenge.

Before the "5.12" earthquake, in Penghua village, Zundao Town, Mianzhu City, New Year pictures were painted on the walls of every household, which attracted many tourists. However, the earthquake disaster destroyed the efforts of 669 households for many years.

After the earthquake, the new year's painting village has a lot to do. Restoring the original appearance of the New Year picture village and relying on the traditional New Year picture to develop and become rich have become an important issue for post disaster reconstruction. Soon, with the care of the government and the efforts of the local people, a new Penghua village has sprung up, and New Year pictures reappear on the walls of new rural houses.
