Bijia City

Bijia city is located at the starting point of Wuling road in Changde City. Beside the majestic Wuling Pavilion, a Bijia battlement stands towering on the Bank of Yuan river. Bijia city is named for its shape like a Bijia. It is composed of five parallel triangular battlements. The highest one in the middle is 3.75 meters, the lower one on both sides is 2.75 meters, and the lower one on both sides is 2.35 meters.

Bijia city has been repaired many times, seven times in history. According to the annals of Wuling County written by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, "in the 11th year of Chongzhen (1638), Yang Sichang, a native of the city, asked for an additional repair. It was completed in three years. The old one was demolished and the new one was replaced. It was extremely strong and solid." In 1980, Changde Municipal People's government allocated funds to renovate the old. When visitors visit Bijia city for a panoramic view, the surging Yuan river flows under their feet. They have a panoramic view of the green countryside and become a good place for citizens to relax.
