Development history

Yuncheng Wetland Nature Reserve of Shanxi Province is located at 110 ° 15 ′ - 112 ° 05 ′ E and 34 ° 36 ′ - 35 ° 39 ′ n, covering 79830 hectares of tidal flat and water area along the Yellow River in Hejin, Wanrong, Linyi, Yongji, Ruicheng, Pinglu, Xiaxian and Yuanqu counties of Shanxi Province, nitrate pond, salt pond in Yuncheng and Wuxing Lake in Yongji city. With the completion of Xiaolangdi water control project, the area of water area and wetland along the Yellow River in Yuncheng City has increased greatly. At the same time, due to the restoration and construction of ecological vegetation and the effective improvement of ecological environment in Yuncheng City in recent years, the number of overwintering wetland waterfowl population has increased year by year, and the distribution scope has been expanding.

Main attractions

According to the preliminary investigation, there are more than 200 species of waterfowl and other wild birds distributed in the region, among which more than 40 species are listed as the first and second level national key protection, such as black stork, great bustard, Relict Gull, sea eagle, Red Crowned Crane, etc., which have attracted extensive attention of international wetland organizations and domestic zoological experts and scholars. In order to protect this valuable wetland resource, on the basis of extensive investigation and demonstration, Shanxi provincial government approved the merger and expansion of Yuncheng Swan Nature Reserve and Hejin grey crane nature reserve established in 1993 into Yuncheng Wetland Nature Reserve on April 6.

Tourism information

The transportation is quite convenient. Tongpu and Houxi trunk railways are the main traffic arteries in the area, and there is a branch line from Liyuan to gudui. The highway takes Yuncheng as the center, the trunk line includes Taiyuan to maojindu, Jincheng to Yumenkou, Linyi to Daning, Yuncheng to Fenglingdu, etc.; the branch line includes Wenxi to Yongji, Fenglingdu to Pinglu, etc. Yuncheng to Sanmenxia and Yuncheng to Fenglingdu expressways have been completed and opened to traffic, and Datong to Yuncheng expressways are also under construction.

There are 209 national roads in Yuncheng City, which can reach Sanmenxia City in Henan Province and Huayin City in Shaanxi Province. There is a bus to Wutai Mountain every 53 minutes at Taiyuan long distance station. It is yiweiketai mountain. If you go to Wutai Mountain from Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Xi'an and Zhengzhou, you can take the express train to Taiyuan first. There is a long-distance bus from Taiyuan Wuyi Square to Wutai Mountain. Aviation Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an and other major cities have direct flights to Taiyuan. After arriving in Taiyuan, passengers can take a long-distance bus to Wutai Mountain at Taiyuan Wuyi Square. Highway passenger transportation is particularly important because trains and airplanes can't reach Wutai Mountain directly. Take the train and get off at Shahe, Fanshi, Daixian and Yuanping stations on the Jingyuan line. You can take the bus to Wutai Mountain instead. It's very convenient. On the Beitongpu railway line between Datong and Taiyuan, Ningwu and Yuanping also have buses to Wutai Mountain, and Xinzhou has many long-distance buses to Wutai Mountain every day. There is a direct coach from Fuping, Hebei to Taihuai town of Wutai Mountain, and there is a shuttle bus between Taihuai town and Taiyuan every day. During the June meeting of Wutai Mountain (from the beginning of June to the 10th of July in the lunar calendar), there are the most tourists. All the counties and towns around Wutai Mountain drive tourist buses, such as Dongye to Wutai Mountain, Yangquan to Wutai Mountain, Fuping to Wutai Mountain, Fanshi to Wutai Mountain, Yuanping to Wutai Mountain, Shahe to Wutai Mountain, etc.

Time of establishment

In May 2001, the people's Government of Shanxi Province officially approved the establishment of Yuncheng Wetland Nature Reserve. Yuncheng Wetland Nature Reserve is a combination of Yuncheng Swan Nature Reserve and Hejin grey crane nature reserve, covering an area of 79830 hectares. It is the largest wetland nature reserve in Shanxi Province. There are 238 species of birds, 28 species of mammals, 38 species of amphibians and reptiles, 641 species of plants and 52 species of fish in the reserve. The middle reaches of the reserve is one of the important wintering places for migratory birds in China.
