Yingge stone
Yingge stone, located at the foot of Zhongzheng road and Chenggong street, Yingge Town, Taipei County, is named for its parrot like shape. It has long been a landmark of Yingge town and a spiritual indicator of its people.
It is said that at the end of the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong led the army down the Danshui River. When they arrived at the Three Gorges area and Yingge area, they suddenly encountered a giant bird spitting fog, causing casualties. Zheng's army immediately shelled the giant bird and hit it in the neck. Then the giant bird suddenly fell to the ground and turned into a huge stone crawling on the hillside, which is the Yingge stone seen today.
Today, the vicinity of yinggeshi has been opened up as a park. You can go straight from Chenggong street to yinggeshi. There is a pavilion at its waist for resting. In the cave on the boulder, there is a stone tablet of Yingge, which briefly describes the origin of Yingge stone. Up the stairs, you can climb to the top, and there is a landscape platform, where you can see Yingge street view, dahanxi River Valley, and Three Gorges Yuanshan scenic spot.
