Zhang Fei's drum Arena

Zhangfei drum arena is located on the North Bank of Xiling Gorge in Yichang, Hubei Province, and on the south side of the top of sanyudong mountain. It is shaped like a huge round stone peak. It rises from the ground and faces the riverside. There is a stone statue of zhangfei drum on it. It is said that Zhang Fei built the drum arena when he was the governor of Yichang. According to the records of Shu Shu in the annals of the Three Kingdoms, in 209 A.D., Liu Bei appointed Zhang Fei as the prefect of Yidu. During the period of Zhang Fei's appointment, he built a drum arena here to supervise the soldiers' performance, so he got the name.
