Qingshan island of South Dongting Lake in Hunan Province is a natural isolated island in the South Dongting Lake in the north of Hunan Province. It is one of the only three fishing villages in the world. The area is only 11.2 square kilometers, but it has 82 families, 337 species of plants and 207 species of birds, which has important ecological protection value. Qingshan island used to be a stopover point for ancient literati and poets. The island has a rich historical and cultural heritage. There are many Neolithic sites. It has a subtropical humid monsoon climate, with an annual average temperature of 16.4-17 ℃, an average temperature of 4.0-4.5 ℃ in January, and an average temperature of 29-29.5 ℃ in July and August. It is located in the Asia Pacific flight line of the world's three major bird migration flight lines. During the peak period of winter migration, the total number of birds can reach more than 200000, including 42 rare species. Melons and fruits, sesame, Artemisia selengensis, asparagus, wild celery, medlar, fish and shrimp, and so on, are the most common foods for the villagers. It is said that there are only three producing areas in China. This is one of the three major migration routes of birds in the world. There are 207 species of birds on the island, including 7 species at the national level, such as Oriental White Stork, black stork, white crane, white headed crane, Chinese merganser, great bustard, white tailed sea sculpture, etc. In winter and spring, half of the sky is covered by birds flying and half of the lake is covered by birds falling.
