Helan Mountain Scenic Spot

Helan Mountain scenic spot, located in the eastern foot of Helan Mountain, starts from baisikou in the north and ends at sanguankou in the south. It is more than 30 kilometers long from north to South and 4 kilometers wide from east to west. The main scenic spots are the twin pagodas at baisikou, xiaogunzhongkou, Suyukou Forest Park, Helan Mountain rock paintings, etc. It has many peaks, steep cliffs and rich forest resources. As early as the Xixia Dynasty, it has been regarded as a summer resort.

Introduction

Helan Mountain is located at the junction of Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. It is the Western barrier of Ningxia plain. The highest peak is 3556 meters, with an average altitude of more than 2000 meters. It is majestic, lush, green and white as a horse. In the north, the horse is called Helan, so it is named. The mountains are covered with woods, the springs are gurgling, and the scenery is beautiful. In the middle of Helan Mountain between Yinchuan plain and Inner Mongolia grassland, there is also Helan Mountain Nature Reserve.

In the nature reserve, there is a rare large area of spruce forest in Northwest China, about 150000 mu, which is very precious. Deep in the jungle, there is also a deer farm covering more than 30 hectares. There are many mixed forests of Pinus tabulaeformis and Picea asperata growing on the shady slope of the mountain above 2000 meters, while on the sunny slope of the mountain above 2400 meters, there are light green forests of Populus davidiana or mixed forests of Populus davidiana and Picea asperata growing. In the dense forest, the wind is strong and the pines are surging. "Pines and waves in thousands of valleys" and "snow in Helan" are the marvelous sceneries.

Main attractions

Two pagodas at baisikou

Baisikou twin towers are located in baisikou at the east foot of Helan Mountain, about 50 kilometers northwest of the old city of Yinchuan city. They are like two twin brothers guarding on both sides of the mountain pass. They are very tall and straight. Baisikou is one of the famous mountain passes in Helan Mountain. The mountain is big and the valley is deep. The environment is quiet. It opens to the East and has a wide field of vision. On the gentle slope of the pass, there are a large number of architectural sites. According to textual research, it was once the site of Xixia Buddha Temple. The twin towers were built on the platform of the temple site to the north of the gully.

Rock art is a key cultural relic protection unit and an art gallery for Chinese nomads. In ancient times, Helan Mountain was a place where the northern minorities, such as Hun, Xianbei, Turk, Uighur, Tubo, Dangxiang, lived and multiplied. They carved the scenes of production and life on the rocks of Helan Mountain to express their yearning for and pursuit of a better life, and reproduce their aesthetic values, social customs and life interests at that time. In the hinterland of Helan Mountain, which is more than 200 kilometers long from north to south, there are more than 20 remains of rock paintings.

Suyukou Forest Park

Suyukou National Forest Park is located in the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve, 25 kilometers northwest of Yinchuan City, the capital of Ningxia. It is 35 kilometers away from Shahu tourist area in the north, 12 kilometers away from Beibao film and Television City in the East, and 30 kilometers away from Xixia mausoleum in the south. It is one of the top ten scenic spots in Ningxia.

Small roll bell mouth

Commonly known as Xiaokouzi, it is 33 kilometers away from Yinchuan city. The terrain is like a giant bell lying horizontally. It opens to the East and is surrounded by mountains on three sides. There is a small isolated peak named zhonglingshan, which is just like the bell hammer of a giant bell. It used to be Li Yuanhao's palace and the summer resort of Ningxia warlord Ma Hongkui during the Republic of China. Now it is a famous scenic spot in Helan Mountain.
