One of the eight ancient temples in Xuzhou was built by Liu Yuxiu, Emperor Wu of the Song Dynasty. Liu Yu, a native of Pengcheng in the late Eastern Jin Dynasty, launched the Northern Expedition many times, taking his hometown Pengcheng as the military base and command center. It is said that Liu Yu once built Taitou temple in the east of Xi Ma Tai. Because he was granted the title of king of song by the Eastern Jin Dynasty, he was also called king of song temple. Today, the former site of Taitou temple has been changed into Xiongfeng Hall of Xi Ma Tai, in which the deeds of Xiang Yu, the overlord of Western Chu, are displayed. Liu Yu became the first emperor of the Southern Dynasty in the Jin Dynasty and Song Dynasty, and Taitou temple is the source of 480 temples in the Southern Dynasty. Taizou temple in Xuzhou

Taitou temple, also known as tuotou temple, is located in the east of Xuzhou ximatai. It was built in the Southern Song Dynasty, more than 1500 years ago. Taitou temple is one of the 36 scenic spots in Hubu mountain and the source of "480 temples in the Southern Dynasties". Liu Yu, Emperor Wu of Song Dynasty, was born in suiyuli, Pengcheng. After he became emperor, he granted his son the title of Duke of Pengcheng. He never forgot that Pengcheng was his "land of Sangzi" and built Taitou temple on the east side of Xi Ma Tai. In 416 A.D., on the day of the Double Ninth Festival, Liu Yu held a banquet with his colleagues and wrote poems. Famous poets such as Xie Lingyun and Xie Zhan chanted poems extemporaneously, which was a good story for a while. Later generations have always kept the habit of focusing on climbing jiuhubu mountain, enjoying chrysanthemums and drinking. Before the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a Shijing temple and a mountain well in the temple. When Su Shi was the magistrate of Xuzhou, he wrote many poems about Taitou temple, which have been handed down to this day.

Buddhism prevailed in the Southern Dynasties (song, Qi, Liang and Chen), and temples flourished. This is what Du Mu said in his poem "480 temples in the Southern Dynasties, many buildings in the misty rain". Taitou temple was built a few years before the founding of Liu Song Dynasty, which should be said to be the source of temples in the Southern Dynasties.

Taitou temple was built by Liu Yu. Liu Yu was the Emperor Wu of the Song Dynasty who was praised by Xin Qiji as "a golden and iron horse, swallowing thousands of Li like a tiger". After Liu Yu built the Southern Song Dynasty, because he was a native of Xuzhou, he went back to his hometown to build the temple. On the day of the Double Ninth Festival, he also feasted on his colleagues and wrote poems. That was in 416. Liu Yu also built haopo temple in Xinghua in 421 ad, which is known as "the first ancient temple in the Southern Dynasties". In fact, it was built five or six years later than Taitou temple. Taitou temple should be the source of "480 temples in the Southern Dynasties".

Taitou temple in Xiajin

Taitou temple, an ancient temple in Xiajin County. The site is outside Nanguan, south of Jinxian normal school. It was rebuilt in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. When the county annals were compiled in 1934, it was examined that "the temple had already collapsed, and only one stone Buddha remained.". The people of this county donated money to build three bungalows to worship the stone Buddha.
