brief introduction

Located in Xiyin village, Yicheng city, Xuda ancestral hall was built in the fifth year of Hongzhi (1492) of Ming Dynasty. It belongs to the place where Xu family worships ancestors and sages. It is the ancestral hall of Xu Pu, a native of the city. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

Xu Pu (1428-1499), whose name is qianzhai, was a Jinshi in the fifth year of mingjingtai. He served successively as the Secretary of the Ministry of household, the Minister of the Ministry of officials, the Bachelor of wenyuange and the Bachelor of wuyingdian. He is known as the "Bachelor of four dynasties". Xuda ancestral hall originally had four entrances, but now there are two or three entrances. The second entrance is 3 wide and 8 deep. The third entrance is the main hall of the ancestral hall, which is on the top of the mountain. It has three rooms wide and eight frames deep. Its beams, rooms, walls and gables are painted with bright colors and well preserved, showing the superb level of ancient residential architectural planning and design.
