Shenshan scenic spot

Shenshan scenic spot is located in the area under the jurisdiction of Guanshan neighborhood committee, Chenghua street, Chenghai District. Shenshan is eleven feet high and more than seven hundred steps around. Although the mountain is not high, it has steep peaks and valleys, towering trees, beautiful scenery and numerous historical sites. It is one of the eight ancient landscapes in Chenghai, and is called "Guanshan Huancui".

In 1568, when Chenghai was established as a county, the county seat was not built, so Cai Nan, the county magistrate, chose Guanshan as the place to discuss politics. During this period, according to its natural topography, a total of ten sceneries were created, namely, Yuantang Yijian, Guige Santai, Xianyan ningai, Yudong Hanyan, the reflection of Zen tower, cold spring Shiyong, sea vessel Chaosheng, Xilu cliff, Hongqiao flowing water, Longwu Shuhuang. Later generations also created eight small scenic spots, so they were called the eighteen best scenic spots of Shenshan. Scholars and celebrities from all over the world came in droves and wrote many praising poems.

Introduction to scenic spots

Since the reform and opening up, many scenic spots in Shenshan have become more colorful after repair, reconstruction and addition, and become tourist attractions at home and abroad. There is Guanshan Academy in the north of Shenshan mountain. It was built in 1572, the sixth year of Longqing in Ming Dynasty. It is the earliest Academy in Chenghai. In front of the Academy, there is a pool with red leaves, which is called red leaf pool. The plaque in front of the Academy said: "the gate of rites is opened to the crown mountain, and the Deer Cave is pursued step by step. The road bank ascends the clear water, and the apricot altar is beautiful." Walking to the east foot, there is a spring under tongxianyan. The spring water is clear and sweet. Now the well wall has been built and the tea has been cooked with the spring. It is called "the first spring of Xianyan".

On the top left of tongxianyan, there is a red footprint, which is said to be left by the immortal. In the southeast of the foot of the mountain, there is a rectangular stone with a smooth surface. At the small end, there is a stone protrusion like a pillow. It is said that an immortal lies on it, which is called "Xianmian bed". At the West foot of the mountain is the ancient temple of Shenshan, also known as the stone Buddha Temple. It was built in 1638. The main hall is a natural stone wall, on which there is a relief stone statue of Avalokitesvara. The top of the holy mountain is the Lingyun pavilion built in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1787), commonly known as Kuixing tower, to worship Kuixing emperor. Osmanthus Pavilion, dizang Pavilion and Wenzhang Pavilion will be built on the Western hillside. The two bodhi trees at the foot of Shenshan mountain are said to have been planted in the Xianchun period of the Southern Song Dynasty.
