Historical changes

Foshan Library was first established in 1957 in Zhongshan Park Jingwu club. It moved to Shengping road in 1958 and zumiao road in 1981. The library on zumiao road was opened to the public on January 8, 1993. At that time, it ranked second only to Zhongshan Library in Guangdong Province, and was the largest modern library in China.

The design of the external wall of the new building adopts Foshan paper-cut elements. From the external wall, four Chinese characters "spring, summer, autumn and winter" can be clearly identified, which shows that the library circulates all the year round, and its connotation is extracted from Weng Sen, a poet of Song Dynasty《 Spring, summer, autumn and winter in four seasons reading music, the poet regards the four seasons of the year as a good time for reading, promotes the elegance and fun of reading, and encourages people to study hard, which has something in common with the service concept of the library. The new library of Foshan City has a building area of 47000 square meters (equivalent to two semi old libraries) and covers an area of 24000 square meters. It has seven floors upstairs, one floor downstairs and two mezzanine, with a total of 10 floors. At present, it is the largest library in the prefecture level city in China, with an investment of about 410 million yuan.
