Leigu Taipei cave

On the south side of the front wall of the North cave, there is a statue of Guanyin with eight arms, 1.83 meters high, sitting on a round platform barefoot. On the north side of the front wall, there is a statue of Guanyin with four arms and eleven sides, 1.9 meters high, standing on a round platform barefoot.

Leigu Taibei cave is the largest and earliest excavated statue cave of Tantric Buddhism in Longmen Grottoes. Tantric Buddhism belongs to one of the sects of Chinese Buddhism. It originated in India and emerged after the 7th century. Tantric Buddhism is the last sect of Buddhism. The introduction of Tantric Buddhism into China, its promotion in China, and even its spread to Japan and Korea, as well as the leaders of Tantric Buddhism and their religious activities are all important It is closely related to Luoyang and Longmen Grottoes.

Taibei cave of Leigu is a dome with a horseshoe shaped plane, 4 meters high and 4.9 meters wide. The top of the cave is a lotus caisson surrounded by four flying bodies. It is not clear because of weathering and erosion. It is said that the main statue of the North cave, the three Buddha statues of the middle cave and one Buddha statue of the South cave were all moved in from other places during the period of the Republic of China. Among the three seated Buddhas in the cave, the main Buddha in the east wall is piluzana Buddha, which means the sun. It means that the sun is clear and the darkness is removed. Therefore, it is also called "Da RI Ru Lai". It is a Bodhisattva with a crown on its head and arms. It is 2.45 meters high and sits on the 0.9-meter-high Xumi platform.
