Baozhu temple is located in the north of Xitou Road, Donghuamen street, Kaifeng City.

Brief introduction of Baozhu Temple

Baozhu temple sits in the north and south. It is an ancient building with three entrances and two courtyards, with cornices and corners. It shows the architectural style of the combination of Song Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. On the central axis is the temple of heavenly kings, which worships Maitreya Bodhisattva, Weituo Bodhisattva and the four heavenly kings. The East and west sides are next to the second floor of the bell and drum. The main hall is located in the middle of the front yard, dedicated to the three saints of Huayan and Guanyin on the island. In the middle of the backyard is the Puzhao building, and on the upper floor is the Sutra Pavilion. It is dedicated to a Burmese jade statue of reclining Buddha and a Chinese Tripitaka presented by Taiwan Buddha foundation.

Baozhu temple was founded by master Jingyan (former executive director of China Buddhist Association, President of Henan Buddhist Association, member of Henan CPPCC and member of Kaifeng CPPCC Standing Committee). In 1924, Jinggong was ordered by Master Taixu to go to the Central Plains to promote Buddhism. Following master Ci's Dharma vein, he founded the female community of Henan Buddhist Society in Kaifeng, and master Ciyun Guangyan's vein. At present, there are more than ten nuns living in the temple, all of whom are above junior high school education level and are devout. All nuns abide by the rules of living together in the jungle. He went to the temple in the morning and evening, passed in the hall at two o'clock, half month busa, took the ring as his teacher, and lived with him in a proper order. Buddhist activities were like Dharma and law.

In the quiet and elegant temple, there are cigarettes, chanting bells and solemn atmosphere, which makes people feel extraordinarily refined. Buddhist believers, pilgrims and tourists come in an endless stream, and the number of converts increases with each passing day. Baozhu temple is indeed a pure land in the city, a pearl in the ancient capital Kaifeng.
