Laoying mountain

Laoying mountain is the core part of Qijiang National Geopark. It is a national 4A tourist attraction. It is located in the east of Qijiang city. Laoying mountain is composed of three "claw" shaped mountains, which meet the main peak of Laoying mountain. The highest altitude is 1354 meters. The main geological relics are dinosaur footprint fossil group and Danxia landform. There are Lianhu Baozhai, which is of great archaeological value, and the largest fossil group of dinosaur footprints preserved in the Cretaceous strata in Southwest China so far; there are magnificent Danxia Landform in hongyanping; there are vivid pictographs such as Laoying Tathagata, Sanjiao stone and Laohou stone; there are also natural beauty such as the cliffs of Hushan mountain, the flying rainbow of jade waterfall and the beacon smoke of Yingshan mountain.

Overview of Laoying mountain

Laoying mountain is a unique mountain range with Danxia landform, which has won the reputation of "red virgin land" in Chongqing. The area of Laoying mountain is not large, only more than 20 square kilometers (more than 800 meters above sea level), but it is flat and protruding, steep and precipitous, and it is majestic and spectacular. According to folklore, Laozi once practiced here when he saw that Laoying was like pengying. The average altitude of Laoying mountain is 900 meters, and the highest peak is near Tianshen temple, with an altitude of about 1342 meters. The surrounding towns of Sanjiang, Shijiao, Yongcheng and Sanjiao are all below 400 meters above sea level. Laoying mountain is composed of three "claw" shaped mountains, which meet at the main peak of Laoying mountain (Tianshen Temple). The three mountains point to the north, northwest and west respectively, forming two deep gullies. Laoying mountain is a provincial (municipal) forest ecological nature reserve with vast forest sea, towering ancient trees and murmuring mountain springs. The main scenic spots of Laoying mountain are baiyun temple, hongyanping, Tianshen temple and Furong Academy.

Main attractions

Baiyun temple

Baiyun temple is located in the south of Laoying Shanxi, which belongs to Shijiao Town, Qijiang District, Chongqing. In the 31th year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty, Hongdu Taoist Yang Changfu traveled here to build a Taoist temple, which was listed as one of the three religious sites in Southwest China. Baiyun temple is located in a place with steep cliffs, majestic mountains, surrounded by white clouds and like pengying, just like a fairyland. There are towering stalagmites, Nanya Xianyi, Dongtian Yujing, qiongzhi LIANLI, Feiquan gushing jade, Tibu Mingqin, Yabo Shuangli and Yingfeng lake near baiyun temple.

Hongyanping

Hongyanping is located in the north of Laoying mountain, belonging to Sanjiao Town, Qijiang district. There are magnificent Danxia Landform in hongyanping, legendary and vivid Songfu rock and Sanjiao stone, lotus treasure village with long history and great archaeological value, dinosaur footprints, Chaoyin cave, Wangtian Guanyin temple, Yueyin temple, baihelin, jade waterfall, flying rainbow, Yingshan mountain smoke, Guanyin bathing water and other wonders.

In summer, when you look at hongyanping from a distance, you can see the steep cliff mountain, which seems to be written with the word "Tiger Mountain". Under the scorching sun, Hongyan is red and warm, and its slope is close to 90 degrees, which makes it more powerful and majestic.

Temple of gods

Tianshen temple, or "Tiancheng Temple", is located on the main peak of Laoying mountain at an altitude of 1310 meters. Tianshen temple, once the largest temple in Southeast Sichuan, was burned in the 14th year of Daoguang. The temple of God was founded for a long time, with many legends and allusions. On the ruins of the temple, you can still see the 1.8-meter-square stone Tai Chi map, the 2-ton stone lion, and the 40 meter long and 25.7-meter-wide Temple foundation. From this, we can feel the truth of the saying that "Tiancheng Temple meets the thunder, Hongzhong breaks through the mountains".
