Ma paoquan

Mabou spring is located at the northwest foot of the rockery on the east side of Li Qingzhao Memorial Hall in Baotu Spring Park, Jinan, Shandong Province. The water flows into a stream and flows into Dongluo river around the north side of the rockery. In fact, the mabao spring pool is composed of two springs. The other spring is called "shallow well spring", which is recorded in the stele of famous spring in Jin Dynasty, the poem of 72 springs in Ming Dynasty and the record of 72 springs in Qing Dynasty.

The spring water flows out from the stone gap, flows northeast along the stream at the bottom of the pool, and flows into the moat (Xiluo River). Around the spring pool, the grotesque rocks and green trees make it very elegant and unique.

Development history

The name of Quan originates from the legend that "Guan Sheng, the general of Jinan, fought against the invasion of Jin soldiers in the late Northern Song Dynasty and died bravely, and his mount came out of the spring angrily". It is said that in the third year of Jianyan (1129) of the Southern Song Dynasty, Jin soldiers went south to attack Jinan. The magistrate Liu Yu was greedy for life and afraid of death, and wanted to surrender to the city. His department, Dagao Guan Sheng, resolutely fought. Guan Shengli led the army to create Jinbing again and again, but in the end, under the attack of Jinbing and Liu Yu, he died outside the west gate of Jinan. Guan Sheng's horse saw that his master had been killed. He raised his head to the sky and hissed. His front hooves plowed the ground repeatedly. As a result, he plowed out a clear spring. This is Ma paoquan.
