Sanjiang song pagoda

Sanjiang song pagoda, also known as Sanjiang wild goose pagoda, is located on the hill in the east of Sanjiang Town, 13 kilometers south of Jingyan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. From the pagoda, you can see mangxi River, yuebo River and Mugua River, so the name of Sanjiang is "Sanjiang". Sanjiang White Pagoda existed at least before 1206 ad. During the reign of Chenghua and Tianqi in the Ming Dynasty, it was renovated twice and listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 2013.

Sanjiang song pagoda, also known as Sanjiang wild goose pagoda, is located on the hill in the east of Sanjiang Town, 13 kilometers south of Jingyan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. From the pagoda, you can see mangxi River, yuebo River and Mugua River, so the name of Sanjiang is "Sanjiang". The tower is a dense eaves brick and wood structure. The body of the tower is a square xumizuo with a height of 28 meters and a total of 13 floors. The bottom of the tower is 5.8 meters long, decreasing layer by layer and slightly inward. The inner height of the bottom layer is 4 meters, decreasing layer by layer upward. Inside the tower, the stairway spirals to the 10th floor. There are false windows on all sides of each floor, with a square hole and a bucket arch decoration. Round brick and triangle brick are used at the corner. During the construction, every three layers are built, and rivets are used until the top of the tower. The whole building is rigorous in shape, simple in style, well-balanced in lines and solid in structure. It is the only religious building in Jingyan county with the earliest existing age and relatively complete preservation.

Building history

Sanjiang White Pagoda existed at least before 1206 ad. During the reign of Chenghua and Tianqi in the Ming Dynasty, it was repaired twice. Huang Shuyun, a resident of Sanjiang street, recalled: there was a stone tablet in front of the tower, and there were five words "honghuanian Peixiu" after the inscription. "Honghua" is the year name used by sun Shiyu of Wu Sangui. It is about the 17th to 20th year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1678-1681 A.D.). Therefore, the tower was built three times in Ming and Qing Dynasties.

In 1986, Sanjiang song tower was listed as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit by Leshan Municipal government, and in 2013, it was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

From Leshan out of the city, along 305 Provincial Road 35 km to Sanjiang Town. The ancient pagoda is at the commanding height of the town.
