Gaoshan Theater
In 1995, Gaoshan theater launched a number of improvement projects, mainly transforming the original theater into an all-weather indoor theater, improving stage equipment and adding rehearsal room, conference room and other facilities. The improved venue was reopened in October 1996 with 1031 theatre seats (916 halls and 115 floors). Apart from being one of the few Cantonese opera performing venues in Kowloon, it also holds large-scale lantern shows together with Gaoshan Road Park during the Lantern Festival and Mid Autumn Festival.

Gaoshan Theater
It is a theatre in Hong Kong with Cantonese opera as its main performance. It is located in Gaoshan Road Park, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon. It is now managed by the leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Gaoshan theater was completed and opened in 1983. It used to be a semi open-air theater with 3000 seats. Because its design is often affected by the weather and noise, it is difficult to design
The expansion project of Gaoshan theatre is likely to be carried out in 2008-2009. It is planned that the tennis court in Gaoshan Road Park will be converted into a subsidiary building of Gaoshan theatre, and a medium-sized theatre with 600 seats will be set up in the building.
Architectural idea
In line with the original arc-shaped design mode, the reconstructed theater is equipped with a "corridor" with the same radian running smoothly through the left and right sides of the theater. In the center of the corridor, there are oval lobbies and stairs, which can be used as exhibition facilities at the same time. A curved staircase connects the ground floor and the lobby on the first floor, unifying the two in space. No matter walking in the corridor or walking up and down the arc-shaped stairs, you can see the colorful scenery all around. The corridor can not only improve the flow of people, but also borrow the green scenery of the alpine park to create a lively, leisure and relaxed atmosphere for the theater. The exterior design pays special attention to the proportion and intimacy with the old theater, and the close echo with the surrounding green environment, so that the three can coordinate with each other. Walking up the high mountain road, you can see that there is a unique arch in the center of the theater, which symbolizes the entrance of the theater and has a directional guiding effect. The entrance hall is designed as a triangle with glass curtain wall to allow visitors to enter from all sides. In terms of materials, the external walls are mainly made of metal and glass, which is in contrast with the plain washstone external walls of the old theater. The aesthetics of exterior wall and the principle of material selection are also applied to interior design. Through the interactive use of aluminum sheet, stainless steel, glass and stone, the dynamic and lively corridor is highlighted.
