Haixia Bay
Haixia Bay, also known as Haixia, is located on the north coast of Sai Kung in Hong Kong. Geographically, it belongs to Sai Kung western suburb park and administratively belongs to Tai Po District. It is the location of Haixia Bay Marine Park, the second marine park in Hong Kong. It covers an area of 2.6 square kilometers and is bounded by the tip of xiangluojiao, Yinzhou, mozhou and Wan Chai coffin corner.
survey
Haixia Bay is an area with high ecological value and high biodiversity. This is because Haixia Bay has a natural barrier to prevent the influx of seawater impurities and make the seawater cleaner, so as to improve a good marine environment. It is the residence of many marine organisms. In the sea, most coral species can be identified, and it is also a hot spot for diving. In order to maintain the ecosystem of Hoi Ha Wan, the government was listed as one of the Hong Kong marine parks in the mid-1990s, and enacted laws to prohibit any man-made activities that affect the ecosystem, such as fishing, fishing trawling, fishing with nitroglycerin or cyanide, carrying away seafood or corals, etc.
history
From 1800 to 1939, lime was widely produced in Haixia Bay. At present, four limestone caves have been found in Haixia Bay. Only two of them are relatively complete. They are located on the East Bank of Haixia Bay.
ecology
Haixia Bay, like Mai Po, has a mangrove area of 5.3 square kilometers, which is a habitat for growing fish and invertebrates living in saline water.
There are many corals in Haixia Bay Marine Park. Most of the corals found in Hong Kong can be found here, and more than 100 original species can also be found here. It became a site of special scientific value on May 1, 1989.
administrative division
The reason why haixiawan is not included in Sai Kung is that Sai Kung has not opened the Xisha highway to Shisi Township and there is no standard road to beitan'ao, Huangshi wharf and other areas. Moreover, villages in Sai Kung, such as Sham Chung, Lai Chi Chong, Yung Shue o, and Chih Chau Island, rely on street ferry and ferry to and from Ma Liu Shui and Tai Po Kau.
