Tamen, known as grass island in English, is located in the north of Tolo Harbour in Chi Mun Strait. It is an hour's flight from the University Station. It leaves at 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. every day, or you can take KMB from Saigon to Yellowstone pier and then transfer to the hourly ferry. Tamen is a small island surrounded by mountains, forming a deep bay port in the south. In winter, when a strong north wind blows, Whitehead waves are blowing on the sea surface, but the waves are still calm in the bay. Fishing boats always love to park here. It was the most prosperous in the 1950s and 1960s, with no less than a few hundred fishing boats gathering. The island was bustling with shops and restaurants, and its doors were like the city.

Tap Mun Grass Island is an island in Hong Kong. It is geographically close to Sai Kung West Country Park and administratively belongs to Tai Po District. It is an island between Chi Mun Strait and Mirs Bay in Sai Kung East country park and adjacent to Sai Kung Peninsula, covering an area of 1.69 square kilometers. At the east end of the tamen is Gongzhou, which is famous for its lion bowling; at the south end is the tamen, opposite to Gaoliu Bay in Saigon Peninsula; at the west end and southwest end are Wanchai Peninsula and datanshai, respectively.

There is a Guanyin temple on the island. During major festivals (such as Guanyin birthday), many fishermen go to the gate of the tower to pray for peace, wind and water. In addition, the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department has set up an air pollution index (API) monitoring station in tamen to observe the impact of urban pollution on the outskirts, which can also be used for comparison.

There are five villages on Tamen Island, which are located in the west of tamen and bounded by the Waterfront Street of Tamen Wharf in the middle. The five villages on the island are Shangwei, Zhongwei and Xiawei in the north, fishermen's new village and Rongshu village in the south.

The residents of the island are mainly composed of the original residents of tamen and the water people who moved to the land. At the peak, there were 2000 people living there. Later, most of the residents moved to the urban area to make a living. At present, some residents who do not want to move have set up STOs or restaurants on the island to support themselves, mainly entertaining tourists coming to the island on holidays.

At the beginning of 1900, tamen belonged to Dongdao cave in administrative division, and now it belongs to Tai Po District. The reason why tamen is not included in Sai Kung District is that Sai Kung has not opened the Xisha highway to Shisi Township and there is no standard road to beitan'ao, Huangshi wharf and other areas. Moreover, villages in Sai Kung, such as Sham Chung, Lai Chi Chong, Yung Shue o, and Chih Chau Island, rely on street ferry and ferry to and from Ma Liu Shui and Tai Po Kau.
