ShiSanHang Museum

With an area of about 62500 square meters, the SHISANHANG museum is subordinate to the New Taipei municipal government. It is a second level independent organization of the municipal government and its business is supervised by the Cultural Bureau. The SHISANHANG museum is the first Archaeological Museum in Northern Taiwan.

ShiSanHang Museum

The SHISANHANG museum is located on the South Bank of the junction of Tanshui River and Haikou in Bali Township, Taipei County. It covers an area of 62500 square meters. In 1957, geologist Lin chaoqu discovered prehistoric iron smelting relics here. At the same time, many prehistoric pottery pieces, stone buttresses and concave stones were also found. Therefore, it was judged as a prehistoric site and named ShiSanHang site according to the name of the site.

Development history

The location of SHISANHANG museum is the site of ShiSanHang culture. The name "ShiSanHang site" is based on the archaeological custom. Most prehistoric sites are named after the smallest place name of the discovery site. The site of ShiSanHang site is also named "shisanhangzhuang" as dinggu village, Bali District, Xinbei city.

architectural composition

The design concept of the ShiSanHang Museum comes from archaeological excavation and the idea of ancestors crossing the sea to Taiwan. The ShiSanHang Museum expresses the images of mountain and sea, past and present respectively through three groups of different types of buildings; the steel structure symbolizes the "sea", and all structural axes point radially to the "sea"; the gentle roof symbolizes the sand dune in the living environment of the past ShiSanHang people; the raised whale back in the sea; and the three-story fair faced concrete building symbolizes the "mountain" type, with simple structure Shan Sujing, the two high walls on the side of the ShiSanHang Museum point directly at the dabenkeng site on Guanyin Mountain, implying the time link between the ShiSanHang and dabenkeng cultures. The SHISANHANG museum is subordinate to the Taipei county government. It is an independent organization at the county level. Its business is supervised by the Cultural Bureau. SHISANHANG museum is the first Archaeological Museum in Northern Taiwan.

The SHISANHANG museum is located at the site of ShiSanHang culture. It is the only prehistoric resident in Taiwan who definitely has ironmaking technology. It may be the ancestor of the kaidaglan people of Pingpu nationality in Taiwan. The ShiSanHang site is designated as a national second-class historic site by the Ministry of the interior. The ShiSanHang culture belongs to the metal age in Northern Taiwan, which began about 2300 years ago and ended after the Han people entered the region, In addition to the discovery of stone and iron, there are also a large number of pottery, mainly reddish brown with sand, characterized by hand-made, fine sand, high temperature and hard texture. In the west coast area, the distribution of the thirteen elements culture is from the Tanshui River along the coast to the Da'an River in the south, and to the east along the north coast and the Lanyang Plain to the sanchangxi River in the north of the qilai plain.
