Xie Gongqiao

The bridge is a single hole seven sided stone arch bridge at the junction of Xinhelong and Xixiao in Shaoxing City. It was built in the Late Jin Dynasty (936-946) and rebuilt in 1685.

Song Dynasty "Jiatai Kuaiji Zhi" records: "Xiegong bridge in xinhefang, in order to Taishou Xiegong place, hence the name.". Shengzhou also has Xie Gongqiao, which is named after Xie Lingyun.

The total length is 28.5 meters, the clear span is 8 meters, the bridge surface is octagonal, and the clear width of the top is 2.95 meters. The thickness of the arch ring stone is 18-20 cm, and the arch transverse stone is 18 * 18 cm. Each arch stone has inscriptions and patterns of lotus seats. Eighty percent of the inscriptions are the names of the bridge donors. Most of the inscriptions are related to Buddhism. Under the bridge, there is a square Longmen stone with dragon shaped relief carved on it, which is lifelike. The bridge foundation adopts double-layer footstone, and there is no wooden pile in Kai @ river. In May 2013, Xiegong bridge was merged with Bazi bridge, Guangning bridge, Silong bridge, Guangxiang bridge, Jingkou bridge, tifan bridge, Baiwang bridge, Jiedu bridge, Rongguang bridge, Taiping Bridge, xikuahu bridge and Yingen bridge, named Shaoxing ancient bridge group, and listed in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
