Wang Yangming (1472-1529) was an outstanding thinker and educator in Ming Dynasty. The name Shouren, word bo'an. In 1499, he was a Jinshi and a minister of the Ministry of war. He advocated "mind learning" all his life and was the founder of Yaojiang school. In the sixth year of Jiajing (1527), he was called to the West. In the seventh year of Jiajing, he died on the way at about 8:00 on November 29, 1529. He was 57 years old. Buried in Hongxi near Lanting.

Wang Shouren's tomb is located in Xianxu villa, 2 li south of Lanting Town, a calligraphy Holy Land in Shaoxing County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. The tomb faces south, with hills on its back and mountains on its side. It rises step by step. It has a wide field of vision and excellent geomantic omen. The diameter of the tomb is 10 meters, the total length of the passage is more than 70 meters, more than 100 steps, and four floors of platform. All of them are carved with stone. It is a typical Ming Dynasty tomb building in Zhejiang. In the piedmont area of nearly 2000 square meters of the cemetery, dozens of ancient pine trees surround the cemetery, creating a solemn and solemn environment.

The tomb was built in 1529, the eighth year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty. It was repaired many times during the reign of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. In 1784, Gao Zonghong made a renovation. He awarded the title of "mingshizhencai" and built a four column stone archway in front of the tomb. During the Anti Japanese War, Tao Guang, general of the Kuomintang troops in Shaoxing, set up a tombstone. From 1988 to 1989, Wang Shouren's tomb was completely renovated in Shaoxing County. In March 1989, initiated by Mr. Okada Wuyan, he raised 3 million yen in Japan to support the successful completion of the restoration project of Wang Yangming's tomb in Shaoxing County. In May 2006, it was announced as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In 2006, the tomb of Wang Shouren was completely renovated by Shaoxing County Cultural Development Center.
