Rongxiang Historic District, also known as Rongxiang ancient town, is located in Binhu District of Wuxi City, south foot of Longshan mountain, north of Liangxi River, west of Helong area in Lixi District, north of Huishan mountain range as a barrier, south of Wuxi's mother river Liangxi River, connecting Xihui scenic area through Liangxi Road in the East and Meiyuan scenic area in the West.

Introduction to scenic spots

Wuxi Rongxiang has a history of nearly 600 years. Rongxiang is divided into three natural villages: Shangrong, Zhongrong and Xiarong. From the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, due to the rapid rise of national industrialists and businessmen represented by Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, Rongxiang has evolved into a street town, which has brought unprecedented prosperity to Rongxiang and built a large number of buildings with the brand of the times and local characteristics. Up to now, Rongxiang still has a 380 meter long old street with modern style and 157 modern buildings with era brand and local characteristics. "Rongxiang modern building complex" was announced as a provincial cultural protection unit in October 2002. The historical district originated from the natural village where the Rong family lived together during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is about 2.5km away from the old city in the West. As one of the famous historical and cultural blocks in Wuxi City, Rongxiang has its own distinctive characteristics in reflecting the overall features of the water town in the south of the Yangtze River. It is deeply influenced by many factors, such as Rong's family culture, industrial and commercial culture, landscape ecology, history of famous city, agricultural civilization, modern civilization of Chinese style and Western style, and so on.
