Xiangyin Confucian Temple

Xiangyin Confucian temple is located in the pedestrian street of Xiangyin County. Xiangyin Confucian temple was built in 1048, the eighth year of Qingli period in the Northern Song Dynasty. The existing building was rebuilt in 1744. It is composed of "yuzhenjinsheng" chongtian square, panchi, Zhuangyuan bridge, "Taihe Yuanqi" square, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall and wing room. It is a well preserved County Confucian temple with exquisite architectural art and unique style.

Historical evolution

Xiangyin Confucian temple is located in the pedestrian street of Xiangyin County. It was rebuilt in the ninth year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty (1744). It is composed of "yuzhenjinsheng" chongtian square, panchi, Zhuangyuan bridge, "Taihe Yuanqi" square, Dacheng hall and wing room. It is a well preserved county-level Confucian temple with exquisite architectural art and unique style.

Xiangyin Confucian temple was first built in 1048, the eighth year of Qingli period in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was similar to the time when Teng Zijing rebuilt Yueyang Tower. It was repaired, repaired and rebuilt more than ten times in successive dynasties. In the first year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, "the scale was magnificent, so it was located in the south of the lake". The whole Confucian temple complex has unique style, exquisite skills, grand momentum, simple and majestic. Zhuangyuan bridge is located in front of the Confucian temple and crosses "panchi". According to the rules of the imperial examination era, the number one scholar in senior high school can cross the bridge by horse. On both sides of Zhuangyuan bridge, the memorial archway of "awe inspiring" is in the south, and the memorial archway of "Taihe Yuanqi" is in the north. In ancient times, civil officials had to get off the sedan chair here, and military officials had to get off the horse here. The two archways are of stone tenon structure, all of which are carved out of granite. Their unique shape and excellent production are amazing. As a base of traditional Chinese culture and patriotism education, Xiangyin Confucian temple has high tourism value and is one of the best preserved Confucian temples in Hunan. In 1983, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. It was overhauled in 2009. On May 3, 2013, it was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Current situation of cultural relics

Less than 30 meters away from the southernmost end of the Confucian Temple scenic area, there is a 30 storey building

Under the iron fence on the south side of "jinshengyuzhen" chongtian square, a stone lion has broken its arm and leg, and pieces of stone slabs carved with exquisite patterns are scattered and stacked on the ground

The stone tenon structure and granite carving of "jinshengyuzhen" chongtian square and "Taihe Yuanqi" square were damaged to varying degrees. There are three pieces of stone which have been tenoned into the east side of "jinshengyuzhen", but only the tenon holes are left. Judging from the damage marks, it has been a long time, but it has not been repaired
