Laobaoshan city site

The site of laobaoshan city is located at the West foot of Baoshan. In the fourth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1576), the imperial court sent troops to the right to participate in politics. Wang Shugao built a city in the West foot of Baoxi as a military fortress.

Completed in two years, the city was 195 Zhang (3.3 Li) high on Thursday, with a height of 2 Zhang and a height of 6 feet and 2 inches. The four gates of the city are all equipped with towers and defensive facilities such as enemy platform, Wopu, suspension bridge and moat. There are two thousand garrisons, with a thousand households of Baoshan Garrison and Taicang garrison. On the night of July 13, the seventh year of Wanli, rainstorms, typhoons and raging tides washed away the seawall, and Baoshan was also washed down into the surging river. The northeast corner of Baoshan City, built at the West foot of Baoshan mountain, was also washed down by the tide. Due to the loss of Baoshan's support, Baoshan Castle finally collapsed into the Yangtze River in 1669. It took 93 years for Baoshan City to collapse into the river.
