Historical evolution

Chongqing Normal University

In January 1954, the southwest ministry of culture and education and Chongqing Municipal People's Committee approved the establishment of "Chongqing Normal College", which is one of the earliest normal colleges established after the founding of new China.

In September 1960, the people's Committee of Sichuan Province approved the university to be renamed as "Chongqing Normal University". Comrade Guo Moruo inscribed the name plate of Chongqing Normal University and obtained the qualification of undergraduate specialty setting in the same year.

In September 1962, Sichuan Provincial People's Committee approved the school to be renamed "Chongqing Normal College" in accordance with the requirements of the state's streamlining and compression, and Chengdu normal college was merged.

In January 1978, Sichuan Provincial Revolutionary Committee approved the school to be renamed Chongqing Normal University again.

In 1981, the University obtained the right to confer a bachelor's degree.

In 1986, the University obtained the right to confer master's degree.

In 1997, the school was under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipal People's government.

In May 2001, Chongqing People's Government approved the incorporation of Chongqing preschool normal school, which was founded in Yuzhong District of Chongqing in 1914, and Chongqing textile workers University, which was founded by the Ministry of light industry in 1970.

In April 2003, the Ministry of Education approved the university to change its name to "Chongqing Normal University". In September of the same year, Chongqing No.1 normal school, which originated from the official Chuandong normal school founded in 1906, was merged.

In July 2004, the foundation of Chongqing Normal University campus was laid.

In October 2005, the first batch of students moved into the campus of Chongqing University Town.

In 2008, it was approved to become a new doctoral institution.

In May 2000, the school was selected into the list of the second batch of national key construction vocational education teacher training bases of the Ministry of education.

In September 2014, the school was selected into the first batch of pilot projects for the reform of education and training plan for outstanding agricultural and forestry talents.

In December 2014, the school was selected into the first batch of excellent teacher training program reform projects.

In June 2015, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education.

In September 2015, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission issued the constitution of Chongqing Normal University with the approval letter No. 2 of the constitution of colleges and universities.

In January 2017, the university successfully won the second phase of the national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of education of the central and western universities basic ability construction project.
