Xiyan Hall

Xiyan church, also known as Notre Dame heaven, is a Catholic Church in Changning District of Shanghai Catholic Diocese. Founded in 1931, the designer is Wuda gram, is the Chinese mainland few Byzantine church. The interior has Gothic windows.

Xiyan Church of Shanghai Catholic diocese is located at No.1 Kele Road, Changning District. Commonly known as "Xiyan cemetery", it was founded in 1929 by Ma Xiangbo, a famous Catholic.

Xiyan hall is located at No.1 Kele Road, Changning District. Also known as "the Virgin Mary ascends to heaven", it was founded in 1929 by the famous Catholic Ma Xiangbo and others, covering an area of 63 mu. The church in the cemetery holds a burial ceremony for the believers to pray. To the north of the church, there is a bell tower, which sounds ten li when it sounds. The building area of the church is 239 square meters. It was designed by the famous architectural designer Hudec according to the Byzantine style and built with the help of Catholic Pan Shiyi. The appearance adopts sharp small door, small window, thick wall, round shell top, and the shape is very exquisite. The whole structure is reinforced concrete structure. Outside the church is a cemetery, in which there are 14 bronze crucifixion statues of Jesus. At the beginning of the cultural revolution, tombs were destroyed, churches and affiliated cemeteries were confiscated, and now only churches and bell towers are left. In 1994, it was listed as an excellent historical building in the city. In 2008, the church was returned to the Catholic Diocese of Shanghai, but the cemetery is still part of the Shanghai Zoo.
