Former residence site of Qu Qiubai

Qu Qiubai's former residence is located at No. 12, Lane 133, Shanyin Road, Shanghai. It was built in 1920. It covers an area of 60 square meters and has a construction area of 141 square meters (the pavilion where Qu Qiubai and his wife live is 14 square meters). It is a new type of three storey residential building with brick and wood structure facing north from south. Entrance ticket door on the first floor, ticket window on the second floor and full balcony on the third floor. There is a small courtyard in front of the house. He used to live in many places in Shanghai. The former site of Qu Qiubai's residence, located at 12 Lane 133, Shanyin Road, Hongkou District, is his last residence in Shanghai.

Qu Qiubai and Yang Zhihua used to live in Liangyi li of Daxi Road (now Yan'an west road). Because of the white terror, Qu Qiubai's safety could not be guaranteed, so they often took refuge in Mao Dun's and Lu Xun's home. In March 1933, Lu Xun sublet a pavilion to Qu Qiubai and his wife, a Japanese friend, Mrs. Nishiyama, at No. 12, Lane 133, jinshanyin Road (formerly dongzhaoli). Most of the tenants in this house were Japanese businessmen and ronin. They often went to Qu Qiubai's house, which affected Qu Qiubai's work. In order to thank the guests behind closed doors, Qu Qiubai had to lie in bed and read a book. His wife Yang Zhihua was cooking medicine on the stove at the door. The smell of smoke filled the room, so as to avoid the interference of the tenants. Qu Qiubai has only lived here for more than three months. Today, No. 12, Lane 133, Shanyin Road (formerly dongzhaoli) is designated as Qu Qiubai's former residence in Shanghai. The apartment is now a private residence. Qu Qiubai has only lived here for more than three months. On May 4, 1984, the Shanghai Municipal People's government announced the former site of Qu Qiubai's residence as a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai.
