Folk Museum

The most concentrated collection of the history and culture of ethnic minorities in Yunnan is in the exhibition site, which is also the largest ethnic Museum in Southeast Asia.

There are more than ten thousand exhibits on display here, which are divided into "Yunnan ethnic minority social form reform and development", "Yunnan ethnic minority ecological industry", "Yunnan ethnic minority textile technology and clothing art", "Yunnan ethnic minority folk art", "Yunnan ethnic minority festival music and dance", "Yunnan ethnic minority handicrafts", "Yunnan ethnic minority ancient books and documents" 》And eight special topics, such as "rare stones and treasures", are on display in 16 exhibition halls.

Folk Museum

Since the beginning of the new century, with the gradual deepening of cultural system reform and the rise of folk "collection fever", the development of China's private museums is just in time.

"Some private entrepreneurs with strong economic strength, with the idea of giving back to the society, have great enthusiasm for opening museums." Ma Dafei, founder of China's private museum club, said, "folk collection is an important supplement to state-owned public museums and an important force to protect national culture."

Creating opportunities

Since the 1980s, China's private folk museums have experienced a process from sharing the happiness of personal collection with the public, to seeking a legal mechanism for the healthy development of folk collection, and then to actively participating in the transformation of cultural industry.

At the same time, the development of cultural relics and art market has attracted a group of private entrepreneurs with economic strength, who have become the main force of the development of private museums in the new era. For example, the changfengtang Museum, founded by Yang Xiu, chairman of Nanjing Tiandi group, is known as the largest folk painting and calligraphy collection in China; the Jianchuan Museum settlement, invested and constructed by Chengdu Jianchuan industrial group, has a collection of about 20000 pieces, all from the personal collections of the curator in the past 20 years.

In most industry circles, the public welfare of private museums is more distinct and prominent. The goal of museums is to focus more on giving back to society, to preserve more cultural heritage for the nation, and to make the public more convenient to access these long cultural essence.

However, since private museums are still a new thing in China, they are still in the exploratory stage. Therefore, how to seek the road of healthy development in many problems, such as imperfect access system, unsound supporting policies, nonstandard management and operation, still needs the joint discussion and efforts of all parties in the society.

Development status

In the past 20 years, China's large and small folk museums with distinctive characteristics have become a great power. According to incomplete statistics, among the 3415 museums registered nationwide, 456 are folk museums, that is to say, at least one of every ten museums is a folk museum. With all kinds of unregistered private museums and collection rooms, the total number of folk museums in China can reach 1000. In some cities, state-owned museums and folk museums can be divided equally. Folk museums are becoming an important part of our cultural life.

In the past 20 years, large and small folk museums with distinctive characteristics have become a great force in China. In 2006, the "measures for the administration of museums" was released. In 2007, there were more than 200 registered private museums in China, and in 2012, there were more than 1000. However, compared with a museum owned by an average population of 50000 in developed countries, the proportion in China is 600000.
