Chang'an Ancient Music Museum

Chang'an ancient music exhibition hall is the only music discipline exhibition hall in China. It was built and opened in the ancient capital Xi'an in 2005.

The exhibition hall will show the world the history of Chang'an ancient music, the bamboo slips of Chang'an ancient music, Tang Banzi and folk characters, Tang musical instruments, portraits and deeds of Tang famous musicians, Tang music institutions, Tang poetry and music, Tang Liyuan, modern Chang'an ancient music inheritance, modern Chang'an ancient music research achievements, etc.

Completed and opened

Chang'an Ancient Music Museum, the only music discipline Museum in China, will open soon. The museum will display the gongchi score of "rain bell" written by Tang Xuanzong; carved statues of Tang court music bands, ancient musical instruments unearthed in Xi'an since Han and Tang Dynasties; and "national treasure" level art carriers such as drum and Sheng instruments donated by old folk artists with hundreds of years of history.

Li Kai, chief planner of Chang'an ancient music exhibition hall, told reporters that after years of painstaking research by experts in music, history, archaeology, culture, utensils, language, literature and other disciplines, it is finally clear that Chang'an ancient music is the direct transmission of Tang Dynasty palace music and retains many elements of Tang Dynasty palace music. With its unique cultural and artistic value, Chang'an ancient music has entered the list of "world oral and intangible cultural heritage" in China. In order to display and carry forward this ancient art, the Chang'an ancient music protection and development leading group began to prepare the Chang'an ancient music exhibition hall in August 2004, which is located in the wing room of the west corridor of Xiaoyan pagoda.

Display

The exhibition hall will show the world the history of Chang'an ancient music, the bamboo slips of Chang'an ancient music, Tang Banzi and folk characters, Tang musical instruments, portraits and deeds of Tang famous musicians, Tang music institutions, Tang poetry and music, Tang Liyuan, modern Chang'an ancient music inheritance, modern Chang'an ancient music research achievements, etc.

Li Kai revealed that in addition to displaying art, Chang'an Ancient Music Museum also organized various experts to actively study and rescue the lost Tang Dynasty music. The first thing to bear the brunt of this is the restoration of the famous Tang Dynasty Music "Ni Shang Yu Yi Qu".
