Beijing news was founded in 1918. It was originally located in zhuchao street outside Xuanwu Gate and moved here in 1920. Shao Piaoping, a native of Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, is the founder of Beijing News and a famous journalist in modern times. The purpose of founding the Beijing news is to publicize the progressive thought, oppose the feudal warlord system, and objectively introduce the Marxist theory and other progressive thoughts. He strongly advocated "saving the country by news" and used newspapers and periodicals to arouse people's consciousness. He was killed by reactionary warlords in 1926. Comrade Mao Zedong spoke highly of Shao Piaoping as "a person with passion, ideal and excellent quality". In 1984, the Beijing News hall was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Beijing.
