Yongdinghe Cultural Museum

Yongding River Culture Museum is the first museum in Beijing to display Yongding River water culture. It was opened in Mentougou in August 2011. At the same time, it launched the Yongding River culture theme exhibition, which is composed of 46 display boards and 50 meter long scroll of traditional Chinese painting "Ode to rivers and mountains in West Beijing".

Development history

Mentougou District Museum, the predecessor of Yongdinghe Cultural Museum, is the first district and county-level comprehensive museum in Beijing, which has been built for nearly 30 years. In August 2011, the museum was renamed "Yongdinghe cultural museum". The museum will further strengthen the collection of Yongding River culture and local cultural materials and cultural relics, strive for the total number of cultural relics to reach 10000, and become an intermediate Museum in Beijing.

In addition, the new Yongdinghe cultural museum with an area of 12800 square meters, which is under construction in Yongding town, Mentougou District, will be completed around 2015.

Yongdinghe Cultural Museum, with the former Mentougou District Museum as the main body, covers 25 museums in towns, townships and villages (6 of which have been completed and 19 are under construction). By 2015, the newly established museum will become the carrier of excavating, protecting, developing and utilizing Yongding River culture.

During the 12th Five Year Plan period, Mentougou District takes the excavation, protection and utilization of Yongding River cultural resources as the main line and support for the development of cultural undertakings. Therefore, the area integrates the existing and to be built museum resources in the whole area to form Yongdinghe cultural museum. The new museum mainly undertakes the research on Yongding River culture, collects and rescues representative cultural relics and materials, solves the current situation of scattered research materials on Yongding River culture, and displays the cultural charm of Yongding River. At the same time, we should enhance regional influence with characteristic culture.

After the name change, the museum will add new topics of water culture on the basis of the original comprehensive local chronicle Museum, new research, exhibition and collection of Yongding River culture in a wider range, new guidance and support for amateur mass research of Yongding River culture, and guidance and training for township museums and memorial halls involved in the development and utilization of Yongding River culture.
