The Bayi Square of Changzhi City was built in 1969 and began to be reconstructed in 1992. Now it covers a total area of 114333 square meters, including 44717 square meters of green area, 67753 square meters of hardened area and 1963 square meters of pool area. With the rostrum as the center, 10 Li Taihang central square covers an area of 7200 square meters. In June 1993, the original trading center was demolished, and a large-scale voice controlled color music fountain was built in the center of the square, which is located in the distance from Sanjin and Quzhi North China. With a diameter of 50 meters and a water capacity of 1945 cubic meters, the fountain marks the liberation of Changzhi. 446 red, yellow, blue and green underwater floodlights are colorful. 1290 nozzles reproduce the heroic picture of the 129 division of the Eighth Route Army fighting in Taihang. With the rhythm of the music, a group of patterns are sprayed every 20 seconds, with three main nozzles as high as 36.9 meters, implying the economic prosperity of Changzhi. Thirteen colored flags fluttering in the wind on the Taipei side of the national flag symbolize that 13 counties, cities and districts stand on the same route. At present, Changzhi Bayi Square is also the largest square in Shanxi Province.

Brief introduction to the square

The central square is designed with the ingenious idea of "two dragons playing with pearls". A high pole lamp is set in the East, West and south respectively, just like the three dragon heads of Bayi Road, Taihang East and West Street, and the two high pole lamps in the East and West are like double poles

The control room is like a dragon mouth, the lawn is like a dragon body, and the fountain is a pearl. The surrounding lawn lamps are arranged according to the seven constellations of Altair, Vega, Big Dipper, toad, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, with a total of 365 lamps, implying the good luck of the Shangdang people every year. East and west streets are two wings. Bayi Road and Yingxiong Road, the North-South thoroughfares, run through the whole city. They can also organize urban road traffic. They are important places for political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological activities in the city. The whole square is divided into four parts by road: one is the central square, the other is the rostrum, and a square garden is built on both sides. It looks like four pieces, but in fact, it is one of the large squares with relatively complete functions in China.

The park covers an area of 19333 square meters and was completed in October 1996. The whole park adopts the layout of peripheral rest, central activities, dynamic and static combination, rules and nature. The vertical effect is inclined from east to west. There are many rest benches in the park, and small activity sites with different heights are opened up. The ground is paved with marble and granite to form auspicious words and beautiful patterns. Spring is full of flowers, summer is full of green pines, autumn is full of rosy clouds, winter is full of green bamboos, four seasons are evergreen and three seasons are full of flowers. It is a public activity place integrating recreation, education and publicity. At present, it is a small garden with the largest investment and the highest grade in the whole city, and has been rated as a provincial excellent project.

In 1995, the first phase of the renovation project was completed, and now it has begun to take shape. It covers an area of 8000 square meters, mainly lawn. It is equipped with 7 groups of lawn floodlights, 4 groups of automatic lawn sprinkler irrigation, and a winding garden road. Corresponding to the East Park of the square, there are high-grade flushing toilets and parking lots, which is now the largest green space in the square.

The rostrum and the green space on both sides, covering an area of 5000 square meters, are located on the central axis of the square. The two sides and the viewing platform constitute the main building of the square. The portrait of Mao Zedong hanging in the center implies the supremacy of the party's leadership. The rostrum is the rostrum for citizens to express their political opinions, reflecting the will of the people of the city in political life. The viewing platform marks the important role of workers, peasants, businessmen and soldiers in the country's political life Equal status. An advanced broadcast transmission system was built in June 1999.
