Bitong academy is one of the 40 sceneries of Yuanmingyuan. It is located in the northeast corner of Houhu Lake in Jiuzhou scenic area. It is a study.

Pitong academy is a group of buildings built earlier in Old Summer Palace. In the Yong Zheng era, it was called "Wutong yuan". Bitong academy is surrounded by mountains and dense trees, which is a very quiet place. Pitong academy is a place where Qing emperor studied and painted. Cultural relic landscape

Bitong academy is one of the 40 sceneries of Yuanmingyuan. It is located in the northeast corner of Houhu Lake in Jiuzhou Qingyan scenic area. It is a study. It is 120 meters long from north to South and 115 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 13500 square meters.

It was built in 1744 ad in the ninth year of Qianlong. There are three couplets in the front hall, five in the middle hall and five in the back hall of Bitong Academy. It is adjacent to the natural picture in the south, facing Ciyun puhu across the water in the west, and yuncen Pavilion on the rock in the West.

The ancients compared the tung tree to a symbol of purity and integrity. They believed that the tung tree could attract the Phoenix. Here, the tung tree is dense, which embodies auspiciousness and quietness. In early summer, the trees are full of branches and fragrant. In midsummer, the trees grow thick and the leaves grow thick. It's a perfect place to study in a quiet room. Emperor Yongzheng studied here all the year round. In his poem, Emperor Qianlong once praised that "the moon turns, the wind turns, the green shadows turn, and the rain windows never tire of the noise. That's the sound, that's the color, and that's the silent color. Don't ask about the Lion Garden of the Ni family. "

During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Bitong Academy was also used as the birthplace and living place of princes. Qianlong's six elder brothers Yongyu, Heshuo and Princess Jia, and sixteen elder brothers were all called "elder brother of Bitong academy" and "Princess of Bitong academy" in the archives.

Current situation of cultural relics

It was burned by the British and French allied forces, and now only remains.

Originally, there was a rectangular pool in the courtyard, and a bridge was built on the pool. Today, the remains of the pool and stone railing are still preserved in the site.

Ni family Lion Garden: Ni family refers to the family of Ni Yunlin in Yuan Dynasty. It is said that he had better be clean. There are six tung trees in front of the court.
