Hailian Temple

Hailian temple, formerly known as Haishen cave, is located on the North Bank of two Li southwest of Chang'an District, Xi'an city. It is close to Zhongnan, where the water is murmuring, the forest is full of trees, the vine is surrounded by green trees, and the Yingge is singing to each other. In fact, it is a pure ancient temple.

Temple History

According to the dictionary of the Yellow Emperor, during the reign of Hu Hai, the second emperor of the Qin Dynasty (207-209 AD), the prime minister Zhao gaocambodian built a river to prevent the flood of the central Afang palace and open up thousands of hectares of fertile land under Wei Du. During this period, the water was drained like blood in the daytime and closed in the night, so there was a cave to sacrifice to the gods, and the sea god was the way of water.

During the reign of emperor Renzong of the Yuan Dynasty (1312-1313), there were monks, masters of Ming and Qing Dynasties who built Buddhist temples. At that time, there were more than 70 temples, covering an area of about one hectare.

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, a monk named Seng Zhiyuan changed his name to Hailian temple. In the late Qing Dynasty, monk Huitong and monk ran made a vow to rebuild the temple, which was destroyed by the cultural revolution.

In 1981, monk senliang presided over the reconstruction of the temple, covering an area of 17 mu. It has both the temple and the garden. The corridor moves step by step, the scenery turns, the height of the building matches each other, the exotic flowers vie with each other, and the birds vie with each other. Later, more than 18 statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were remodeled, with round arms, graceful and graceful appearance. After the discussion among the monks, the temple was still named {Hailian Temple}.

Hailian temple, originally an ancient temple in Chang'an, is well-known. After reconstruction, it is full of incense, tourists and Japanese Buddhists.

Tour information

The incense festival of Hailian temple is scheduled on the 19th of the first month of every year.
